The brand new Netflix series “Scott Pilgrim Takes Off” is a new action packed and comedic spin on the 2004 book series “Scott Pilgrim” by author and artist Bryan Lee O’Malley, later adapted into the 2010 live-action movie “Scott Pilgrim vs The World.” Contrary to popular belief this new series, directed by Abel Góngora, instead follows the love of Scott’s life, Ramona Flowers, covering her adventures in solving the mystery of Scott’s disappearance and battling her demons from her past.

Most of the cast of the 2010 film have come back to reprise their roles in this brand new story, with some of the notable and familiar voices being Michael Cera, Kieran Culkin, Chris Evans, and the star of the show, Mary Elizabeth Winstead who has returned to portray Ramona Flowers and all her essence once again.

The series has demonstrated a gorgeous and fluid style of animation compiled with elegant as well as vibrant colors that help convey the story by making it hard to look away from. The animation style captivates the viewer’s attention and makes it worth their while as we see when Lucas Lee (one of Ramona’s ex-boyfriends and a villain of the story) is skateboarding while also fighting off paparazzi simultaneously, a great showcase the series’ stunning and unique style of story telling. The animation’s beauty lies not just in its motion but in the intricate details that adorn the scenes, from the shading to the crevices and immense on-screen action.

“Scott Pilgrim Takes Off” is a beautifully animated and written series that is definitely a must watch for viewers of any caliber. The series has twists, life, and mystery all rolled up into one action-packed new story in the Scott Pilgrim universe. If you’re looking for a new franchise to explore, “Scott Pilgrim Takes Off” will not disappoint the older and more mature audience keeping an eye out for some quality entertainment. Based on my personal opinion, I’d give it 4 out of 5 stars, I really enjoyed it and cannot stress enough how much of a must watch this series is.

About the Contributors
Jayden Colon, Journalist
Hey there! My name is Jayden Colon, and I'm a Junior, also known as an 11th grader, at A-Tech High School. It's a pretty cool school that focuses mainly on automotive education, but they've recently added some other programs too. When I'm not in school, I love playing video games, drawing and taking photos, and listening to music. I'm really passionate about entertaining people through gaming, and I hope to make a career out of it someday as a YouTuber. In my free time, I like to sketch in my black book, creating graffiti art and drawing my favorite characters. I also love listening to music and breaking down the samples and beats to appreciate the rhythms and melodies. I'm part of a club called My Brothers Keeper (MBK), where we support each other, talk about our weeks, and help out with school events. My favorite subject in school is art, where I get to express myself and be creative. I also love learning new methods in photoshop. Although I haven't received any awards or honors yet, I'm working hard to get on the honor roll and be recognized for my academic achievements. My future goals include finding a job to gain financial independence, so I can support myself while I work on building my YouTube channel. Ultimately, I want to inspire and entertain others to follow their passions and make a positive impact on the world.
Matthew Abreu, Student Editor
Greetings! My name is Matthew Abreu, and I'm a junior studying computer science at A-Tech High School. I'm also the student editor and journalist for our school newspaper. I'm thrilled to share my passion for exploring new places and spending quality time with loved ones. Learning something new daily keeps us motivated and inspired. My advice to fellow students is to avoid feeling overwhelmed by the workload and take things one step at a time. With focus and determination, we can achieve great things by managing our schedules and working on one task at a time. If you're overwhelmed, remember to break things down into smaller, more manageable pieces.
