Do you know what rizz is? At A-tech High School, a fellow respectable teacher, Ms Bridda, told her class what the word of the year was. As many know, the word has been used multiple times in our school, but do you know where it comes from? Many teenagers of today’s generation have made the word so present in our lives which is why we are digging behind the topic of rizz.

As usual, before the end of our 2023 year, Ms. Bridda was emailed her daily New York Times in the morning news. Out of the blue, she was notified of Oxford’s word of the year; before the news, she didn’t know the meaning of rizz, but she did hear it in the school and probably ignored it. She then notified her students of the surprising news she was given. To her surprise, many students expressed the same feeling when they were told the word that would conclude 2023. Now that she knows, she can also understand when students talk about it, she doesn’t plan on using it in her own life. However, for many students, rizz as the word of the year  was important because it reflects the current culture. Many students have explained the meaning and importance of “rizz” in today’s society. students have explained the meaning and importance of rizz in today’s culture.

According to Oxford’s Word of the Year, the phrase rizz comes from the shortened form of charisma, and its meaning is “ability to attract another person through style, charm, or attractiveness.” A commonality with students is the belief that charisma uses pickup lines, but there is more to it.

Rizz can be looked for online if you’re searching for pickup lines and can be corny, but pickup lines are just a way to flirt and converse with someone. Its objective is to make a person laugh or like you. – Brian R

Pickup lines are a big thing related to Rizz because they depend on various factors, such as what you try to complement. It’s a way to make someone feel good since the goal is to make them smile and grab their attention. – Ernesto

Regarding Rizz, pickup lines are the attention grabber to ignite a conversation with the goal of a positive response. As mentioned, it’s the way to charm someone with your own style that can make it attractive.

Find what you’re good at, then create a personality for Rizz. Rizz on your topic, such as interests and surroundings. Rizz comes from charisma doesn’t have to be pickup lines. It’s the way you speak to people. Rizz has to fit with you, and what works for someone doesn’t for another.

 – Ernesto

The style you get for charisma comes from the personality you carry that can shape what works for someone. There is a lot behind the topic of Rizz since there are many factors if you’re trying to use it for seduction, but it can be used to get a laugh.

Even though Rizz can be used to hopefully get a positive response, sadly, the phenomenon has also brought side effects. The downsides that come with the use of charisma are what may develop over time and how it can affect the way people are treated.

Even if you don’t like the person and you’re using Rizz on them just for their numbers, it can be wrong as you’re playing with their feelings. Shouldn’t become sexual when trying to rizz because it could become harrizment. – Brian

Manipulation can be created when someone uses what they know of the person. Harizzment is when there is a continuation of trying to get someone’s attention which can be bothersome for them. Rejection can lead to an endless search for success in Rizz. – Ernesto

Charisma can be misused as you can be playing with someone’s mind and emotions. It can be abused and would be as equal as harassment.

In conclusion, the word rizz has lots of meaning and has significantly impacted today’s culture. The youth has helped develop this phenomenon, bringing much within it to discover.

Hey there! My name is Aidan Lopez, and I am a junior in the 11th grade at A-Tech High School. One of my favorite things to do is skateboarding, and I love cruising around the neighborhood on the weekends. I participate in several extracurricular activities at school, including the soccer club, track, and MBK. I enjoy training to improve my health and playing soccer with my friends in my free time. Being part of MBK, a group that teaches brotherhood and helping others, is something I am passionate about. I used to be interested in track, which remains a significant interest of mine. I decided to attend A-Tech High School because of its CTE automotive program, which has been an incredible experience. I get to interact with cars daily and be with people who share my interests. I also enjoy math and physical education classes where I can play sports or lift weights. I have completed two college courses, created a fitness club during the summer, and completed two internships in the auto industry. Participating in the auto internship program was indeed an honor for me. It provided me with valuable skills and helped me prepare for a possible career in the automotive industry. I aim to expose myself to different experiences that can help shape me into the person I want to become. I am passionate about cars and would love to pursue a career in the industry, whether as a mechanic or attending college to become an automotive engineer. Thanks for taking the time to listen to me!
