After getting a Canadian passport, Musk departed from his home in 1988 in search of better economic pursuits and as an escape from supporting the racial discrimination brought about by Apartheid through mandatory military service.
Tesla

SpaceX
“You want to wake up in the morning and think the future is going to be great – and that’s what being a spacefaring civilization is all about. It’s about believing in the future and thinking that the future will be better than the past. And I can’t think of anything more exciting than going out there and being among the stars.” – Elon Musk
The American Aerospace company SpaceX was instrumental in launching commercial spaceflight when it was established in 2002. It was the first commercial enterprise to launch a crewed spacecraft and dock it within the International Space Station (ISS), as well as the first to safely return a spacecraft from Earth orbit. Headquarters are currently located in California’s Hawthorne, which is used to build the spacecraft. They have more than just one facility; they have over 4 different facilities across California, Florida, and Texas, some of them used for launching, and others for testing only.
A number of historic firsts have brought attention to SpaceX on a global scale. In 2012, the Dragon spacecraft became the first commercial spaceship to transfer cargo to and from the International Space Station. It is the only private firm that can return a spacecraft from low-Earth orbit. Additionally, SpaceX made history in 2020 by being the first commercial enterprise to send humans there.
Starlink
Over 70 nations are covered by the U.S aerospace SpaceX’s Starlink satellite internet system. After 2023, it also plans to offer mobile broadband all across the world. In 2019, SpaceX began launching Starlink satellites. It is made up of more than 6,000 mass-produced tiny satellites in low Earth orbit as of early March 2024, which are in communication-specific ground transceivers. With a potential later extension to 42,000, the anticipated number of satellites to be deployed is close to 12,000 units in total. In December 2022, SpaceX reported having over a million members; in May 2023, 1.5 million; and in September 2023, 2 million.
Fun fact: Starlink’s services are now available in the country of Honduras!!!
The Boring Company
Musk launched The Boring Company in late 2016 in Los Angeles, California. It’s an underground tunneling technology company, to address traffic issues like congestion in large cities. The R&D Tunnel, The Hyperloop Test Track, and the Las Vegas Convention Center are the three projects that the company has already finished. As of recent reports, it is estimated that The Boring Company’s net worth is $7 billion. Not bad for a boring company right? Some of their projects so far have been a flamethrower, burnt hair, and an astonishing mega-infrastructure constructing machine that they named “PRUFROCK” that would get jobs done in a matter of weeks instead of years. It is currently used to build a tunnel at a speed of 1 mile a week. Pretty innovative if you ask me. Who knows, maybe we’ll see a PRUFROCK working on improvements in the Lincoln Tunnel right here in New York.
Fun fact: Their slogan is: “Boring, it’s what we do”.
