Elon Musk, a well-known businessman and entrepreneur, skyrocketed onto the global radar through his famous work in various different industries. Musk’s name is behind a variety of companies we hear about today like SpaceX, Tesla and X (formerly Twitter). Musk’s futuristic thinking has set him up to be the face of success, even taking up the title of richest man in the world from 2021 to early 2024, still retaining his position in the top 3 even now with an estimated net worth of $193.2 billion (Source: forbes.com). Elon is a South-African entrepreneur born on June 28th 1971. His father is from South Africa, explaining his origins and his mother is Canadian. His technological and business interests were always hinted at during his adolescence when he created his own video game and sold it at the age of 12 during the up and coming age of video games and software development. After getting a Canadian passport, Musk departed from his home in 1988 in search of better economic pursuits and as an escape from supporting the racial discrimination brought about by Apartheid through mandatory military service.

“You want to wake up in the morning and think the future is going to be great – and that’s what being a spacefaring civilization is all about. It’s about believing in the future and thinking that the future will be better than the past. And I can’t think of anything more exciting than going out there and being among the stars.” – Elon Musk

The American Aerospace company SpaceX was instrumental in launching commercial spaceflight when it was established in 2002. It was the first commercial enterprise to launch a crewed spacecraft and dock it within the International Space Station (ISS), as well as the first to safely return a spacecraft from Earth orbit. Headquarters are currently located in California’s Hawthorne, which is used to build the spacecraft. They have more than just one facility; they have over 4 different facilities across California, Florida, and Texas, some of them used for launching, and others for testing only.

A number of historic firsts have brought attention to SpaceX on a global scale. In 2012, the Dragon spacecraft became the first commercial spaceship to transfer cargo to and from the International Space Station. It is the only private firm that can return a spacecraft from low-Earth orbit. Additionally, SpaceX made history in 2020 by being the first commercial enterprise to send humans there.

Over 70 nations are covered by the U.S aerospace SpaceX’s Starlink satellite internet system. After 2023, it also plans to offer mobile broadband all across the world. In 2019, SpaceX began launching Starlink satellites. It is made up of more than 6,000 mass-produced tiny satellites in low Earth orbit as of early March 2024, which are in communication-specific ground transceivers. With a potential later extension to 42,000, the anticipated number of satellites to be deployed is close to 12,000 units in total. In December 2022, SpaceX reported having over a million members; in May 2023, 1.5 million; and in September 2023, 2 million.

Fun fact: Starlink’s services are now available in the country of Honduras!!!

The Boring Company

Boring Company 'Flamethrower' Now a Collector's Item

Musk launched The Boring Company in late 2016 in Los Angeles, California. It’s an underground tunneling technology company, to address traffic issues like congestion in large cities. The R&D Tunnel, The Hyperloop Test Track, and the Las Vegas Convention Center are the three projects that the company has already finished. As of recent reports, it is estimated that The Boring Company’s net worth is $7 billion. Not bad for a boring company right? Some of their projects so far have been a flamethrower, burnt hair, and an astonishing mega-infrastructure constructing machine that they named “PRUFROCK” that would get jobs done in a matter of weeks instead of years. It is currently used to build a tunnel at a speed of 1 mile a week. Pretty innovative if you ask me. Who knows, maybe we’ll see a PRUFROCK working on improvements in the Lincoln Tunnel right here in New York.

Fun fact: Their slogan is: “Boring, it’s what we do”.

Elon Musk has publicly stated that he has Asperger’s syndrome, which is a type of autism spectrum disorder. Asperger’s is a lifelong neurodevelopmental condition that affects people in various ways, often associated with difficulties in social interaction and intense, obsessive interests. People with Asperger’s may have challenges interpreting verbal and non-verbal language, but they can also be more empathetic and emotionally aware than non-autistic individuals. It’s important to note that Asperger’s is not an illness or disease; rather, it’s a fundamental aspect of an individual’s identity.

Elon Musk has overcome the challenges of autism by utilizing his strengths and focusing on his passion for innovation and technology. He has shown resilience and determination in pursuing his goals, which has led to his success in various ventures, such as Tesla and SpaceX. By embracing his unique way of thinking and embracing his differences, Musk has been able to thrive in his career and make significant contributions to the world. Through hard work and perseverance, Elon Musk has shown that individuals with autism can excel and make a positive impact in society.

Hey there! It's great to meet you. My name is Michael Flores, and I'm a junior at A-Tech High School. I'm a big fan of taking pictures of landscapes, especially sunsets and sunrises, and I love playing soccer with my friends and family. I've been playing on my high school soccer team since 2023, and I'm proud to say that we had an awesome season this year, with 8 wins and only one loss. Plus, we made it to the playoffs after four long years. I'm super excited to be joining the Student Council at my school soon, and I'm already an active member of the National Honor Society and the National Ed Equity Lab National Honor Society. I'm also going to be part of the Newspaper Club very soon. Social studies is one of my favorite subjects, but my absolute favorite is Automotive. I'm going to graduate from high school as an automotive technician, which is a dream come true for me since I've always loved cars. I remember playing with car tires and toy cars when I was little, and now I get to work on real cars. How cool is that? Since coming to the U.S, I've been lucky enough to receive some amazing accolades and be part of some fantastic events like Aspen Challenge and Microsoft. Next up, I'm going to City Hall in New York to meet the Mayor, thanks to a United Nations program that I'm a part of. I'm proud to say that I've received five Student of The Month certificates, two certificates of participation, and lots of completion certificates. I've even got trophies for Principal Awards, Academic excellence in science, Spanish, and music, and an Aspen Challenge trophy. My goals for the future are to become a successful Automotive technician and ensure my family and loved ones always have the best of the best. Some fun facts about me: I'm originally from Villanueva, Cortes, Honduras, and I might even have some Jamaican and Indian blood in me. I moved to Brooklyn, NY in 2019 with only a basic knowledge of English, so I'm really proud of how far I've come. And, even though I'm not a big fan of veggies or fruits, I'm always up for trying new things. I want to leave you with a little advice. Patience is key, and being kind to others is always important. You never know when you might need help, or when someone else might need your help. So, wherever you go, make sure you always leave your mark and be kind. Thanks so much for reading all about me. If you ever want to get in touch, feel free to DM me on Instagram, or drop me an email at.
