Pridejoy Chitoli, a student at A-Tech, has expressed how inspired the students feel by Mayor Adams.

Mayor Eric Adams, a well-known advocate for clean energy and sustainable practices, significantly impacted A-Tech High School by revolutionizing their automotive program. On a beautiful September 20th morning, Adams arrived at the high school with a unique gift – an electric vehicle. He spoke to the students about the importance of environmentally friendly transportation and the advantages of electric cars over traditional gasoline-powered vehicles. By introducing electric cars to A-Tech High School, Adams gave the students a valuable opportunity to learn about advanced technology and its environmental impact. Adams’ visit to A-Tech High School is a powerful example of how civic leaders can actively engage with the community to support sustainability and provide young people with the tools they need to become the very change we all would like to see. The students were thrilled to have the opportunity to see an electric vehicle up close and learn about its innovative features. By introducing electric cars to the automotive program, Adams has taken a significant step towards promoting the benefits of renewable energy sources and reducing carbon emissions.

Electric cars are the future of transportation, offering numerous advantages over gas-powered vehicles. They emit far fewer greenhouse gasses and pollutants, making them a more eco-friendly alternative. They also provide a more peaceful driving experience due to their quiet operation. Furthermore, they require less maintenance and repairs, resulting in considerable long-term cost savings. We can significantly reduce our carbon footprint, increase energy security, and combat pollution by adopting electric cars.

Some students at A-Tech High School had the opportunity to be involved when Eric Adams Came; they even had the chance to speak with him. A senior, Kendrick Aguy, talked with Eric Adams during his visit to A-Tech High School. He described Eric Adams as a very upstanding person who noticed that he cared about the community and took action to support it. Electric cars are nothing new to A-Tech as the seniors had already been learning about them. A junior at A-Tech High School was also present at the time; Aidan Lopez realized that this impacted the future of mechanics since they work on Gas Vehicles and must now adapt to the future, including electric vehicles. He stated, “Since Mechanics Work on vehicles that run on gas, an Electric Vehicle would be totally different. This might be a job offer more towards engineers since it involves more technology.” This pivots thought into the grand-scale benefits and drawbacks of this up-and-coming technological shift in years to come. Not only would the jobs for mechanics decrease, but there are other disadvantages, such as finding charging stations, charging times, higher initial costs, limited driving range, and battery packs that can be expensive to replace when it comes to electric vehicles.

Micah Walcott, Journalist
My name is Micah Walcott, and I'm in 11th grade at A-tech High School. I enjoy spending time with friends, playing video games, and most of all, maintaining my relationship with God. I'm passionate about reading the Bible every morning, even when I don't feel like it. I don't participate in any extracurricular activities, but I work out regularly. I don't play sports because I’d rather spend my day in the house talking with my friends. If we're talking academics, I'm interested in physics and enjoy learning about new things and people. I think that curiosity would make me a great journalist one day. Thank you for taking the time to read my bio.
