The album “Vultures” is a collaboration between Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign and has three parts. Although only one part has been released so far, the album is receiving a lot of love from the rap community. The album mixes Kanye’s old sounds from “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy” with Ty Dolla $ign’s style. The track “Carnival” is gaining popularity among casual music listeners due to its catchy chorus and features from Playboi Carti and Rich The Kid. Personally, I wasn’t expecting this album to be good after my first listen. I’m a big fan of Kanye’s older albums, such as his dropout trilogy with his soulful and chipmunk-sounding tracks like “Jesus Walks” and “Through The Wire.” However, as I listened to “Vultures” more, I began to appreciate its unique sound and how Kanye is evolving and moving away from his original style.
One standout track is “Talking,” where Kanye sampled a high school cheerleader’s chorus. “Carnival” and “Burn” are my favorites from the album, as they have catchy hooks and a good beat. “Carnival” samples one of Kanye’s older tracks, “Hell of a Life,” and Playboi Carti’s feature makes the song unique with his lyrics. On the other hand, “Burn” brings back the old soulful sound that Kanye is known for. Even though it is a short track, I love the good aura it radiates.
Overall, I would rate this album a 7/10. The instrumentals are excellent, and I like the album’s sound. However, some lyrics are questionable, and I hope they improve in the other two parts of the album. The features from Playboi Carti and Travis Scott are great, but I also want them to bring back the sound of the old Kanye.
